6/5/06 - Here are some new pictures of Hope (now Lily) with her new summer cut. Her mom recently rescued a litter of 4 week old kittens, and lily is taking care of them, licking them, watching over them...what a sweetie.
Thank you to everyone who helped with this very deserving girl.

10/24/05 - Thought you'd like to see how Hope is doing! She is now in her foster
home - and is very happy and healthy - probably needs about another 15-20 lbs -
but she's a sweetie!
Deb
P.S. She also has a very handsome gentleman friend...

10/14/05 - On my way to Santa Maria today, I stopped in to see "Hope" and she looks sooooooooo much better!!
She has put on more weight, her white coat is now soft and silky and her playful personality has shined through & through.
What a great transformation........unfortunately I did not have a camera on hand to take photo's to share. The Mesa staff
have done incredible wonders and thanks to Deborah for all the moving and shaking she has done to help Hope as well as all the other NPLH volunteers and some funding.

10/5/05 - Our girl is making progress - she's put on about 12 lbs (when she came in, she only weighed
about 50 lbs - and they believe she is a big girl - who should probably weigh about 90-100lbs). They
think she is about 3 years. They are still pulling off "stick fleas" (new to me) - she's still pretty weak,
and has a little muscle atrophy, but improving every day.
I'm running her in the Tribune this Sunday.
She has been officially rescued through VFA/NPLH.

9/30/05 - I visited "Hope" last Friday Sept. 30th at Mesa Vet clinic in Nipomo and
she has put on some weight and starting to look healthier.
She is still weak from her ordeal, has some muscle atrophy but getting stronger every
day with the help from the wonderful Mesa Vet Clinic staff as well as the help from public donations.
"Hope" will continue to remain in good hands with the Mesa staff till she is well enough
to get into a foster care home.
Thanks again for any contributions you would like to make to assist "Hope" in her recovery journey.
The NPLH team appreciates it!
Howls & Meows,
Lora Pechy

9/21/05 - Hope is her name.
She will be at the vets for about two weeks. Hopefully, by then, we will have found a foster home,
a permanent home, or another rescue group (I'm
contacting Husky rescue in CA) to take her.
Will send pics when I get them.

9/21/05 - Got a call yesterday from Mesa Vet about a dog (a Husky
I believe) tied to a post in a field somewhere in south county. No identification, of course. The
dog was severely dehydrated and thin. The vet's office called to see if we could help with boarding
fees until she's better. I agreed to pay for 5
extra days boarding. Then they called and said she needed a blood transfusion because she was
covered in fleas and ticks. So, I told them to go ahead and do it - so far, cost is about $240 -
but we do have the funds available. The staff at
the vets office will try to foster her for a while. If you know of anyone who could help, let me
know.
